  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 Tablespoons butter, cold and cut into pieces
  • 1/2 Cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 Cup chopped apple
  • 1 Cup confectioner's sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flours, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then gently fold in the chopped apples.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 11-13 minutes until golden brown.
  8. While cooling slightly, prepare the glaze by mixing confectioner's sugar with milk and vanilla. Brush over warm fritters.
