Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 3/4 cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 cup (130 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, plus 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare brownie cookie dough by creaming together room temperature butter and light brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in an egg and vanilla extract. Combine dry ingredients separately and fold into the wet mixture along with semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  3. For the chocolate chip cookie dough, beat cold cubed butter with sugars until fluffy, then mix in an egg and egg yolk followed by vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and fold in more semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  4. Scoop both doughs into uniform balls; combine one brownie ball and one cookie ball into a single ball on the prepared sheets.
  5. Bake for 8-9 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
