Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 3/4 – 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F and spray a 9×9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium-high heat until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, and baking powder. Gradually add buttermilk until you achieve a sticky batter. Fold in cooked sausage and cheddar cheese gently.
  4. Pour melted butter into the prepared dish and spoon the biscuit dough on top evenly. Cut into squares.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown; check doneness with a toothpick.
