  • ½ cup diced carrots

  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • lbs red potatoes (cubed)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep all ingredients by dicing vegetables and cubing potatoes.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground Italian sausage; set aside.
  3. In the same pot, melt butter and sauté onion, carrots, celery, and garlic until softened.
  4. Stir in flour and seasonings; cook for another minute.
  5. Gradually add chicken broth while stirring; incorporate cubed potatoes. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 20 minutes until tender.
  6. Stir in heavy cream along with soy sauce and hot sauce; return sausage to pot and simmer for an additional five minutes.
