Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm milk (105-110°F)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 ½ – 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted for topping)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk and sugar in a small bowl, then sprinkle yeast over it. Let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture with butter, egg, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Beat on medium speed until smooth.
  3. Gradually add more flour until a soft dough forms. Mix on medium-high for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (around 45-60 minutes).
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into rolls. Transfer to prepared baking sheets and let rise again for about 45-60 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush immediately with melted butter before serving.
